Ingredients

  • 1 pound Flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups Broccoli florets
  • 0.33 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, cornstarch, and beef broth to create the sauce.

  2. 2

Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Add the broccoli florets and two tablespoons of water; cover and steam for 3 minutes until tender-crisp, then remove and set aside.

  4. 4

Wipe the skillet dry and add the remaining tablespoon of oil, increasing the heat to high.

  5. 5

Add the beef strips in a single layer and sear until browned, approximately 2 minutes per side.

  6. 6

Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken.

  7. 7

Return the broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together to coat thoroughly in the glaze.

  8. 8

Serve immediately over steamed white rice and garnish with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
