Ingredients

  • 12 oz Flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch(optional)
  • 6 small Warm tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 2 cups Shredded cabbage (slaw mix)
  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise(optional)
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds(optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep (10 minutes): In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. If using cornstarch, whisk it in to help thicken the sauce.

  2. 2

Cook (15 minutes): Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef strips and cook 6–8 minutes, stirring, until browned and cooked through.

  3. 3

Cook (15 minutes): Pour in the soy-garlic-sesame sauce. Simmer and toss 3–5 minutes until glossy and lightly thickened.

  4. 4

Assemble (within the remaining time): Toss shredded cabbage with lime juice (and mayonnaise if using). Warm tortillas briefly in the microwave or on a dry pan.

  5. 5

Serve: Fill tortillas with beef and top with quick slaw. Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
