Ingredients

  • 12 oz Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1.5 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 cup Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 0.5 tsp Turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 0.25 tsp Red pepper flakes(optional)
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 1.5 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped(optional)

Instructions

    Prep (10 minutes): Pat shrimp dry. Mince garlic, grate ginger, and chop onion. Measure spices and tomato ingredients.

    Cook (15 minutes): Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until softened, about 3 minutes, then add garlic and ginger and cook 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

    Add tomato paste and stir for 1 minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, cumin, coriander, turmeric, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Simmer 5 minutes to thicken.

    Add shrimp to the sauce and cook 3–4 minutes, stirring, until shrimp turn pink and opaque. Turn off heat and stir in lemon juice.

    Serve immediately, topped with cilantro/parsley if using.
